Online counselling

Same sessions, same approach, same counsellor. Just from wherever you are.

Online counselling works exactly like in-person sessions, just via a secure video call. You connect from wherever feels comfortable for you, whether that is your living room, a parked car, or a private office space. The session, the conversation, and the relationship are the same.

For many people, the option to meet from home removes a practical barrier that would otherwise stop them from getting support. There is no travel, no waiting room, and no need to be anywhere other than where you already are.

Online sessions are available to anyone in the UK. If you live somewhere rural, have a demanding schedule, or find it difficult to leave home, video counselling makes things considerably simpler.

Some clients choose online exclusively; others prefer in-person; many mix both depending on the week. Whatever works for you is what we go with.

Common questions

Is online counselling as effective as in-person?

Research consistently shows that online counselling is just as effective as face-to-face for most people. What matters most is the quality of the relationship, not the medium. Many clients find they open up more easily from the comfort of their own space.

What do I need for an online session?

A device with a camera and microphone (phone, tablet or laptop), a stable internet connection, and a private space where you will not be overheard. That is all.

Which platform do you use?

Sessions take place via a secure video platform. Details are shared when you book. No specialist software is needed; it runs in your browser.

What if my internet drops during a session?

It happens occasionally. We will reconnect by video as quickly as possible, or switch to a phone call for the remainder of the session. The time is always yours.

Can I switch from online to in-person, or the other way around?

Yes. Some clients mix both, depending on what suits them week to week. There is no commitment to one format.

Where in the UK can you see clients online?

Anywhere in the UK. Online sessions remove geography entirely, so whether you are in London, Edinburgh, or a rural village, the same sessions are available to you.

If you are based in or around Retford, Nottinghamshire, in-person sessions are also available. Find out more about in-person counselling in Retford.
